DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Planning and Development Department seeks highly motivated individual. The individual in this role researches development activity and considers policy trends. Reviews site plans and construction drawings for compliance with development regulations. Provides assistance to the public. Interacts directly with developers, engineers, surveyors, architects and officials in other City of Houston departments. Researches and responds to enforcement issues. Will review and develop recommendations on multifamily performance standards, mobile home parks, cemeteries, junk yards, hotel/motels, and tower applications. Works in a team environment.
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering or an equivalent in-dept specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Experience interpreting regulations; excellent analytical and communication skills; experience working with the public/clients/team to resolve problems; ability to adapt well to changes, maintains calm under pressure.
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED None
However, a Skills Assessment Test may be administered by the Department.
