Storage Architecture Focus

Roles and Responsibilities

• Support creation of infrastructure road maps defining how core infrastructure changes will come online
• Establish and maintain clear standards for Infrastructure products and services
• Support infrastructure technology governance
• Supply subject matter expertise for key initiatives
• Support and influence the creation and maintenance of reference architectures and associated patterns
• Collaborate with Project Solutions Architects in developing sustainable repeatable technology solutions
• Partner with Regional Operational teams to incorporate input into Technology Domain deliverables
• Act as a bridge between Architects, Infrastructure Operations and business teams to ensure that the technology infrastructure meets functional and technical goals
• Deliver infrastructure product and service architecture functions
• Capability research (Infrastructure product & services)
• Interface with Enterprise Architects to incorporate input into product / service visions and strategies
• Product selection inclusive of PoC & RFI/RFP support
• Product lifecycle management inclusive of roadmaps and technology refresh needs
• Develop and/or influence business case for technology introduction or change
• Identify and document key infrastructure patterns
• Collaboration across Technology Domains
• Maintain documentation to promote reuse
• Deliver enterprise infrastructure product and service engineering functions
• Lab work to facilitate research, PoC, and Pilot activities
• Document detailed enterprise requirements to feed design specification
• Support the development of Technology refresh plans and processes
• Creation of design specifications to be leverage as a foundational item by regional engineering and implementation teams for production builds
o Performance tuning guidance
o Usage/consumption patterns
o Guidance for estimating timing for implementation planning
o Minimum component configurations
• Maintain library of documentation to promote reuse
• L4 SME support for critical chronic production problems
• Collaborate across technology areas to ensure consistent standards and solutions are developed and leveraged
• Establish and leverage key strategic vendor relationships

Required Skills:

• 14+ years of combined experience designing, building, and operating Enterprise Infrastructure Products and Services in a large global company
• Demonstrated Product and Service Lifecycle Management capabilities
• Strong product, service, and vendor knowledge
• Knowledge of SLA, KPI’s, and forecasting (demand management)
• Business case management
• Reference Architecture and infrastructure patterns
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with large data center class storage and server environments
• Specific technology expertise around areas such as:
o Storage technologies; NAS, SAN, Data protection, Archiving
o Server technologies (UNIX & Windows)
o Computing Architecture
o Server Virtualization; hypervisors
o Cloud computing
o Asset Management / CMDB
o High availability and Disaster Recovery
o Configuration and Build Management
o PC & VDI technologies
• Demonstrated project experience
• Experience working with onshore and offshore teams
• Experience working with insourced and outsourced IT Operations
• Demonstrated Leadership (Vision and Direction)
• Ability to plan and direct large scale efforts
• Proven ability to motivate, influence and interact effectively with peers, IT & Business leaders
• Superior decision making and client relationship building skills
• Clear and focused communication and presentation skills
• Financial and Contracts acumen
• Detailed Cost Benefit Analysis
• RFI/RFP experience
• Service Management acumen
• ITIL foundational knowledge
• Proven experience delivering Infrastructure product architecture and engineering standards
• Experience with system monitoring and automation within large environments
