Job Posting Summary

This position will work in support of the Academic Workforce Program (AWP) of the Center for Human Development (CHD). AWP offers several programs of study through UAA and Prince William Sound Community College that prepare personnel to serve individuals with disabilities. The UAA Center for Human Development has 4 major type of programs: 1)Interdisciplinary education (which includes AWP); 2) Community training and technical assistance; 3) Research; and 4) Information dissemination. These are designed to increase the independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. CHD's projects and activities are not limited to developmental disabilities; they focus on a wide range of disabilities, ages, and issues.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.

--Knowledge of college and university processes for admission, fiscal support, course registration and enrollment management. --Knowledge of service delivery systems for individuals with disabilities, such as person centered care, positive behavioral support, supported living. -- Knowledge of FERPA requirements and processes --Knowledge of FAFSA requirements and application processes. --Ability to manage multiple, complex projects. -- Ability to access and use distance learning technologies --Ability to communicate effectively with the public and stakeholders. --Demonstrated written communication skills. --Ability to provide and/or facilitate training. --Ability to supervise and/or lead.

Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).

Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice and three years of relevant experience in related field or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Length of time and type of experience required for this position.

Two years working in the field of disability with experience as a care coordinator, case manager with an service agency, and/or staff development coordinator on a college or university level. Experience in student advising.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.

Preference for Master's degree in education,social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice, or related field.

Job Duties

Records

Duty:
(1. New student recruitment and admissions) Coordinate program admissions and new student advising; plan and implement marketing of program for new students and families, as per UAA and/or PWSCC policy, deadlines and processes. Provide group and individual program orientations for potential students. Coordinate the development and dissemination of admissions materials.
a) Implement, from the work plan, the project's student recruitment plan, for the ultimate identification and admissions into one of the Center's program of study.
b) Orient potential students as to the goals, process and outcome of the program of study.
c) Orient school and community agency personnel involved in the student referral process.

(2. Ongoing student registration and support) Coordinate enrollment activities with Office of Admissions
Advice as per UAA and/or PWSCC policy, deadlines and processes. Assist admitted students in the
development and adherence to course schedules and programs of study plans. Assist students in the use
of electronic course and content organizers. Advise students with registration and financial aid tasks and
deadlines.
a) Assist with registration.
b) Facilitate application for and determination of eligibility for scholarships.
c) Plan and coordination new student orientation the given program of study.
d) Serve as the liaison with UAA Admissions and Financial Aid offices.
e) Complete all required recordkeeping and data collection, as per project and UAA requirements; complete project summaries and reports as requested.

(3. Student fiscal support) Plan, coordinate, implement and maintain records for student fiscal support, including referrals to complete FAFSA application for Pell Grant, Alaska DOL STEP scholarships, and Alaska Native Education Program scholarships and stipends.

(4. AWP program planning and recruitment) Participate as part of the AWP team in the planning and implementation of a statewide and community marketing system for each academic program; provide presentations to targeted groups and organizations in support student recruitment.

(5. Program service coordination) Oversee, facilitate and coordinate academic supports and processes across programs in a manner that complies with UAA and PWSCC policy, procedures and systems. In cooperation with the program director and faculty support staff, assist in the provision of ongoing student IT support as needed, in coordination when possible with existing UAA IT services. In cooperation with the program director and instructors, plan and c ordinate the distribution of course materials. Maintain student records, including electronic data and e-portfolio documents, as needed.

(6. Assess to disability services and supports) Coordinate services as needed with PWSSC and/or UAA Disability Support Services for students who experience disabilities. Oversee, facilitate and coordinate as needed determination and implementation of identified course and instructional accommodations for students who experience disabilities.

(7. Program evaluation) Participate as part of the AWP team in the planning and implementation in program evaluation activities to measure effectiveness and drive the continuous improvement of programs and trainings; prepare project reports for funding agencies.
