SUNY Empire State College seeks an Academic Advisor for our School of Nursing located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The academic advisor will provide program planning and advisement to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. In addition, the advisor will work closely with the clinical coordinator for clinical placements and the student services coordinator in outreach activities.
The academic advisor will serve as a resource to evaluate all sources of credit for transfer credits applicable to degree requirements. The selected incumbent will become familiar with sources of credit recognized by SUNY Empire State College including, but not limited to, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) and Independent Study (IS). The chosen candidate will work closely with the faculty on advisement and program planning issues and will manage a caseload of mentees. Advisement will occur via phone, letter, email, fax or personal interview.
- Master’s Degree
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with multiple computer applications including Word, Excel and databases and willingness to learn additional applications and the Learning Management System
At least three years experience with academic advisement in an institution of higher education.
Occasional travel may be required to support outreach efforts and the Transfer Pathways Agreements currently in place with community college partners.
