This position is responsible for determining and implementing the plan, program and/or strategy that will meet the support service needs of the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students. To serve as an advocate for ESOL students and a contact and resource for the administrators, faculty, and support staff of North Hennepin Community College as well as other local agencies, organizations, and educational institutions. To collaborate and develop partnerships with area Adult Basic Education programs. To advise students interested in MnSCU study abroad programs.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field
Knowledge of and experience working in an educational environment
A professional understanding of student development needs
Strong interpersonal and public relations skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Data collection and analysis skills
Ability to organize diverse responsibilities
Experience working in diverse environments
Advising experience in Higher Education
Knowledge and experience in issues related to ESOL students Knowledge of agency and organizational services for ESOL populations
Ability to create a strong commitment to program objectives
Ability to direct and respond to day-to-day operational needs of the program
Ability to develop long-range plans and directions for the program An understanding of study abroad programs
