This position will assist in the collection and reporting of primarily academic data including student, course, financial aid, and degrees and majors data. The Academic Information Systems Specialist will work with staff in other areas, such as in Information Technology Services (ITS), to assist USG institutions in submitting data to the System office. This individual might also represent the Office of Research and Policy Analysis (RPA) at meetings involving USG institutions.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Collaborate with other System office staff and data system Points of Contact (POCs) at institutions to collect data on students, courses, financial aid, academic programs, and employees;
Facilitate the change review process for data systems including tracking data issues and business processes;
Conduct impact analyses related to business processes that affect data systems;
Develop routine and ad hoc reports from System data sources using SQL or reporting software such as Cognos, Oracle, or Crystal;
Create reports such as the Semester Enrollment Report, Ten-Year Enrollment Report, credit hour reports, and feedback reports;
Manage Degrees and Majors Authorized data system including the entry of Board and administratively approved changes in the system;
Assist in maintaining the data element dictionaries for academic and financial aid data collections including writing data element definitions and metadata descriptions and managing some tables such as the grade mode table;
Help maintain a reporting glossary including creating and updating definitions of terms used in reporting;
Assist in monitoring and maintaining a report library on the RPA website; and
Respond to and help track requests for research, data, and information.
