Summit Business Media is hiring for an Account Executive (Sales). This role focuses on new business development, renewal of key accounts and business retention through a combination of phone, electronic and in-person interactions. The Account Executive will be primarily responsible for the generation of new business through trade shows and other outbound marketing efforts, though are not excluded from receiving inbound sales leads generated through other marketing platforms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. The successful Account Executive will need to:
  • Meet and exceed sales and revenue targets
  • Focus on high priority prospects and key clients to grow enterprise-wide accounts
  • Manage the sales process from initial client contact through closing the business
  • Build relationships at all levels within client organizations, from the C-suite to individual agents
  • Forecast, track and report sales and client activity in a timely manner
  • Work as part of a team towards the shared goal of maximizing client satisfaction, revenue, and personal income
  • Travel to trade shows as both an attendee and an exhibitor
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements that an individual should possess to carry out the responsibilities of the job.
  • 1-3 years of experience in business to business sales, or commensurate experience working in the group retirement or health markets
  • Must work out of our Washington, DC based office
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, through both electronic and face-to-face mediums
  • Basic IT knowledge including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and credible professional manner
  • Outstanding negotiation skills, persuasiveness and resilience
  • Good self-management and initiative, with the ambition and drive to excel
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and lasting relationships with senior executives at some of the nation’s largest Insurance and Financial Services firms
  • Light travel, usually not more than 2 nights and usually not more than once a month, may be required
