Major Duties

Prospects and sells Consolidated products and services to .small to medium sized companies through cold and warm calling lead generation. Maintain existing accounts in assigned territory, and increase growth in network services.

Responsibilities

Goes to customers' premises to sell and demonstrate telephone systems and the Company's network services capabilities. Uses knowledge of Company's services and products, handbooks, training guides and product reference files to assist the customer in making appropriate selections of telecommunications products and services. Explains operation of various communication services and products, demonstrating and instructing customers in the proper use of services, features and equipment. Acts as public spokesperson and public representative for the Company. Exercises constant awareness and knowledge of privacy issues while working with customer records.

Serves as initial contact for members of the public with the Company. Directly interfaces with customers via telephone, written correspondence, or direct public contact on all matters relating to provision of business telecommunication products and services.

Maintains periodic customer contacts with assigned accounts, either in person or by telephone, to ensure customer retention and customer satisfaction with the Company's products and services.

Uses computer and/or on-line service order system to access information for system price quotations. Maintains files of customer records, pending quotations, and other pertinent material. Assembles and maintains a Priority Accounts profile for all assigned priority accounts, using computer and word processor, giving all pertinent information about the account.

Responds to customer complaints and resolves them. Solves problems under existing general policies by using personal computer and company computer systems to access customer records, research the problem and develop solution(s). Immediately notifies supervisor(s) of any potential problem areas discovered or suspected with any priority and/or major account. Reports all competitive sales information available to Sales Manager and/or other appropriate personnel. Decisions impact multiple departments.

Supports development of new markets, based on Broadband and Televideo Networks.

Maintains a professional sales posture at all times and actively seeks out sales opportunities. Persuades others to accept a position not previously held or in the face of strong opposition or antagonism. Has responsibility for revenue generation, through quotas specified in the Sales and Compensation plan.

Coordinates business telephone service installations, additions, moves and changes, and required on-site inspections, with customers and other Company depart?ments, using a multi-line telephone, computer and/or written correspondence.

Prepares various reports (daily activity, funnel, etc.) for management, as required.

Maintains a daily agenda, through the use of software applications or other effective time management and scheduling tools.

Reviews returned mail and correspondence, making customer contact when necessary, by either mail or multi-line telephone. Correspondence can include postcards, short notes, or letters.

Demonstrates products and services at trade shows located at various sites in the metropolitan area. Stands while talking to customers or potential customers and answers questions about Company products and services, and possibly demonstrating telephone features, using a previously programmed telephone instrument. Expected to act as public representative for the Company.

Reviews service order report, verifying status and timeline by using an office computer and company accessible computer systems.

Attends local training sessions for new systems or service and/or upgrades, as required.

Attends various Company meetings, including safety meetings.

May participate in local Chambers of Commerce and act as a representative for the Company.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Director, Commercial Sales Development, including customer account research, special reports and projects. Uses various office technology as required.

Reports to work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record.

Qualifications

Technical training or knowledge: Proficient with personal computers and graphics and word processing software. Working knowledge of MS applications suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred. Must be familiar with and demonstrate an ability to explain operation of various communication services and products, including Key Systems, PBX, Centrex, ISDN, and broadband network services.

Professional training or knowledge: Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees, and an ability to sell the Company's products and services. Must have the ability to learn, understand and effectively explain the Company's rates, rules and regulations. Must be able to retain information gained through training and experience which is required for effective job performance. Must maintain a neat appearance.

Work experience: In depth knowledge of the Company's products, services, procedures and customers; or three (3) to five (5) years of solid technical sales experience.

License required: Valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record. Proof of personal vehicle liability insurance which meets the company?s minimum requirement.

General education or equivalent: Reading, writing, arithmetic and communication skills equivalent to those obtained from completion of high school or commensurate experience.

Physical Demands: Physical demands are minimal and generally consistent with the performance of routine sales duties. Some of the day is spent sitting at a desk, working with computers, printers, files, and standard office equipment. Some of the day is spent walking, standing, and occasionally bending, stooping and sitting. Additionally, this position requires traveling by company vehicle to meet with customers. Movement is required in the use of office equipment, supply locations, files, and other work locations and meeting rooms. Lifting, generally less than 20 pounds occasionally required for transporting boxes, materials to and from vehicle.
