Major Duties

To continue a successful tradition of securing new business customers and selling Consolidated Communications Copper and Fiber based products and services in the Western PA area.


Consultative sales position. Heavy emphasis on new sales activity with the goal of creating an account base. Spends most of the time prospecting for and closing new business customer opportunities for CCI. Local travel to customers' premises to demonstrate and sell the Company's fiber and copper based services.

Uses handbooks, training guides and product reference files to assist the customer in making appropriate selections of telecommunications products and services. Explains operation of various communication services and products, face to face demonstrating and instructing customers in the proper use of services and features. Acts as public spokesperson and public representative for the Company. Exercises constant awareness and knowledge of privacy issues while working with customer records.

Serves as initial contact for members of the public with the Company. Directly interfaces with customers via telephone, written correspondence, or direct public contact on all matters relating to provision of business telecommunication products and services.

Understands, and is able to sell, the entire CCI Broadband business product line, including voice services, data, Collocation, hosted voice, and Custom Data Services.

Uses Company provided laptop computer and on-line service order system to access information for system price quotations. Maintains files of customer records, pending quotations, and other pertinent material,

Responds to customer complaints and resolves them. Solves problems under existing general policies. Reports all competitive sales information available to Sales Manager and/or other appropriate personnel. Decisions impact multiple departments.

Maintains a leadership posture for the development of new markets and sales personnel based on the evolution of CCI's network and services.

Maintains a professional sales posture at all times and actively seeks out sales opportunities. Persuades others to accept a position not previously held or in the face of strong opposition or antagonism. Has responsibility for revenue generation, through quotas specified in the Sales and Compensation plan.

Maintains a daily agenda, through the use of software applications or other effective time management and scheduling tools.

Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly prospecting and funnel management activity through use of CRM application.

Demonstrates products and services at trade shows located at various sites in the Western Pennsylvania area. Stands with a professional appearance while talking to customers or potential customers and answers questions about Company products and services. Expected to act as public representative for the Company.

Attends local and non local training sessions for new systems or service and/or upgrades, as required.

Attends various Company meetings, including safety meetings.

May participate in local Chambers of Commerce and act as a representative for the Company.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Sales Manager, Director of Business Development or VP, including customer account research, special reports and projects. Uses various office technologies as required.

Reports to work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record


Technical training or knowledge: Must be familiar with and demonstrate an ability to explain operation of various communication services and products,

Professional training or knowledge: Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees, and an ability to sell the Company's products and services. Must have the ability to learn, understand and effectively explain the Company's rates, rules and regulations. Must be able to retain information gained through training and experience which is required for effective job performance. Must maintain a neat appearance.

Work experience: A knowledge of the Company's products, services, procedures and customers; or a minimum of 3 years technical sales experience. 3-5 telecommunications or cable sales preferred

License required: Valid Pennsylvania State Driver's License.

General education or equivalent: 2yrs college; Bachelors preferred.
