The Account Manager manages sales activities to an established customer base, primarily over the phone, fax, and electronically. This position will work directly with customers, the client leadership outside sales force, as well as the inside sales team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meet and exceed established sales pricing and margin goals
Quote prices and help prepare sales presentations
Regular client and customer correspondence
Prepare recap of monthly results and successes
Review market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates
Identify pricing levels for customers, programming all contract pricing for client's organization, creating standard operating procedures, and training for client's outside sales staff and inside sales team
Work closely with Sales and customers to prepare strategic and quarterly promotion plans
Keep the electronic pricing tools updated and maintain pricing logs of price changes
Analyze customer base and recognize opportunities
Keep current of industry trends and competitive products
Back up and support other team members
Travel as required. In order to meet the travel requirements, must have a personal credit card and an available credit limit for expenses which are reimbursed.
This position has no leadership responsibilities.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily. In-depth understanding of the consumer package industry with a strong retail background including shelving, POS and Plan-O-Gram work is preferred. Must have the ability to travel as necessary and a personal credit card with an available credit limit for expenses which are reimbursed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is required. One to three years sales experience required.
TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE
This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes: Intermediate Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Also, individuals in this position must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by Client and Alta Resources.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and standard operating procedures. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Individuals in this position must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percents, and decimals. High level of financial analysis needed.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or oral communication form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand. Manual dexterity which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required, as is the ability to talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
