We are looking for that 1 to 2 year experienced seller ready to take their next step. This is not an entry level role, but step 2.0 in the growth of your sales career – managing a list of existing clients as well as developing new ones, in support of all NYPR properties.

Retain and cultivate a current client list for repeat business

Prospect new leads for potential underwriters in the business community

Obtain meetings with owners of businesses throughout the New York Metro area

Conduct client needs analyses and deliver customized presentations

Create on-air and digital proposals for current and potential clients utilizing research, scheduling system, powerpoint

Familiarity with audience research and developing compelling rationale to include in client presentations

Maintain a CRM and pending business program managing personal performance to individual budget goals

Attendance at client managed events

Achieve quarterly and annual sales budgetary goals

Work with New York Public Radio counsel to obtain on air and digital copy approval

Stay abreast of market trends and competitive activity in commercial radio, public radio and online media sales

Comply with all New York Public Radio department policies and guidelines

Ability to work extended hours as needed

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree required

Minimum 1 year of media sales experience required; radio, television, digital preferred

Negotiation and decision making skills

Knowledge of digital media and digital landscape

Affinity for non-profit public media and New York Public Radio WNYC and WQXR – public media experience a plus

Excellent customer service and cultivation skills

Goal oriented, accountable, self motivated, driven, team player

Requires prior experience building and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external contacts

Experience in engaging business owners and marketers

Proficient user of Microsoft Office Outlook and Powerpoint…Tapscan and WideOrbit experience preferred
