The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Account Planner for our Client Solutions Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:
Time Warner Cable Media currently seeks an Account Planner, Client Solutions, based in New York.

The Account Planner is responsible for pioneering best practices to transform the current local cable schedule-building process into an industry-leading capability that effectively meets client’s needs and maximizes revenue.

The Account Planner will report to the Managing Director, Client Solutions and will have an opportunity to utilize strategic media-planning, inventory-management, strategic marketing, leadership and influencing skills in this role.

Understand Client’s Needs

 Work closely with Client Solutions Managing Directors & Sales Teams (Account Executives, Local Sales Managers and General Managers) on critical Key & Target accounts identified by the Strategic Sales Plan.

 Partner with Client Solutions Associates during the discovery process & client needs analysis discussion with the AE. Assimilate information from various sources to understand campaign needs.

 Refine and execute CNAs (Client Needs Analysis) by category and account to align media schedule approach with specific needs of the client business.

 Collaborate closely with Sales Leadership and associated AEs on prioritized categories and client accounts to develop & execute category and account specific scheduling templates (with input from CNA where needed).

 Participate in Strategic Account Management and discussion of the Client Intelligence Form with Client Solutions & AE.

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of cable networks & programming

 Across TWC Media’s 50+ cable networks, anticipate and analyze cable network performance – including new, current and returning program performance across all genres, including entertainment, sports and news.

 Identify programs that have the highest likelihood of sell-out and work closely with Inventory & Pricing Supervisors to optimize pricing across Interconnect & Zone inventory.

 Study demographics data and consumer profiles to identify target audiences for specific cable networks or programs.

 Leverage secondary research data and develop strategies to maximize 50+ cable network inventory.

Create best-in-class media campaigns that over-deliver on client’s needs

 Analyze and utilize inventory reports to aid in the development of effective, executable schedules and work as a liaison between the Inventory Supervisor on high profile programming avails .

 Build programming schedules in Strata for clients using intimate knowledge of client needs and independent judgment to maximize total campaign effectiveness – across on-air, online, Interactive TV and VOD.

 Create schedule templates for key industry categories, demographic groups, high profile programming events (e.g. Red Carpet Awards shows) or Buying seasons (e.g. Labor Day Sales).

 Develop POV and best practices on systematic television schedule building, including minimum reach and frequency goals.

Maximize revenue through “smart” Inventory, AUR & post-campaign management

 Liaise with Sales, Pricing & Inventory Planning to ensure sold schedules maximize inventory sell-out at the highest possible average unit rate (AUR). Work closely with Inventory Supervisors to discuss inventory/recaps and enforce all pricing & planning deadlines, policies and procedures.

 Pro-actively review client schedules/performance and provide recommendations for enhancements (post campaign management). Maintain client schedules to ensure delivery of buy, work with Sales Assistants & Traffic to manage preemptions, reaffirm quarterly projections and create account posts.

 Provide feedback or improvement to Sales, Client Solutions and Inventory functions regarding campaign results. Carefully track results of the campaign in e-TIMe (CRM tool) not only on the linear schedule but across all platforms – Online, Interactive TV and VOD.

 Monitor and work with traffic to ensure fulfillment of special order requirements (i.e., auto-fill, priority codes, EDI, client ID’s, agency confirmations, co-op fulfillment, etc.). Works closely with Sales & Traffic to manage all preemptions and programming changes, make recommendations on schedules based on availability and as applicable, generate flowcharts to reflect all changes, cancellation and expansion options.

 Keep detailed reports on all added value, bonus, promotions and trips for quarterly recap to key and super key accounts to aid in contract negotiation and client retention. Work closely and communicate directly with appropriate agency/client counter-parts as needed to ensure excellent service at all times.

Job Requirements:
 3-5 years of local media-buying experience in cable, broadcast, digital or radio sales is desired. Ideal candidate is an experienced media planner and/or buyer working within an agency setting (media or digital agency) or a media company (cable highly preferred).

 Experience using local cable buying tools (e.g. STRATA) is preferred.

 Proven track record including all aspects of local media buys from projections to post.

 Experience with various Nielsen methodologies including, Overnight, PPM and quarterly sweeps.

 Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communications with proven ability to work collaboratively with Sales Leadership to shape and influence best-in-class schedules.

 Must be able to work independently on a project basis and meet frequent deadlines.

 Excellent team and project-management skills.

 Strong “sense of urgency” and interest in stretching to the next level.

 Demonstrate “innovative” thinking and new ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:
Major in Marketing, Advertising and/or Media preferred

Familiarity with various advertising mediums (TV, radio, broadcast, direct mail and Internet) and advertising agencies Experience with Microsoft Office Suite & other applications/software designed for various sales research & proposal development (Strata, Nielsen & Scarborough preferred)

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred
