Accounting responsibilities are those of a professional accountant, which require an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Processes weekly timesheets and ensures accurate recording of labor charges.
Maintains and reconciles employee leave balances.
Reviews and codes employee expense reports, R&R and home leave advances in accordance with Business Processes, GAAP, FAR and CAS.
Meets Corporate deadlines for transmittal of timesheet and employee expense data for bi-weekly payroll.
Maintains accurate records and control documents.
Ensures timely and secure filing of labor and payroll related documents and reports.
Responds to employee payroll, expense and leave questions and provides resolution in a timely manner.
Assists in the preparation of journal entries for monthly close, as directed by Finance Manager and ensures transactions are reasonable and in compliance with Business Processes, GAAP, FAR and CAS.
Assists in the maintenance and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as directed by the Finance Manager.
Assists with month and year-end close to include preparation of financial statements for Company and monthly reporting package for parent company.
Provides details as required for external and internal audit activities.
Drafts changes to Work Instructions.
Participates in continuous improvement efforts and process improvements relating to Finance.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum A.A. degree in Accounting
Preferred: BA/BS degree in Accounting
Minimum 5 years accounting experience
Preferred: Experience in Government service industry
Proficiency in Excel required with strong accounting system skills a must. Must have working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Strong verbal and written skills required. Experience with Deltek Systems a plus.
