The Accountant I position is an entry-level role in which critical thinking and communication skills will be needed to apply accounting theory and knowledge in the areas of accounts payable, general ledger and fixed assets. A successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism; follow procedures, guidelines and internal controls.
  • Accounts Payable
    • Review W-9s to ensure accuracy and set up vendor accounts within Epicor
    • Obtain and verify necessary approval for vendor invoices
    • Assess purchases, apply appropriate general ledger coding and enter invoices into Epicor for payment
    • Examine vendor invoices for appropriateness of any sales tax charges
    • Generate and analyze open accounts payable reports
    • Process check and/or wire payments
    • Handle vendor inquiries
    • Prepare and distribute 1099 forms and reconcile to form 1096
  • Fixed Assets/Intangible Assets
    • Journal depreciation and amortization according to U.S. GAAP
    • Maintain an accounting schedule of all fixed and intangible assets
  • Process and Analyze General Ledger
    • Comprehend chart of accounts
    • Enter and post monthly, adjusting and accruing journal entries
    • Reconcile various general ledger accounts
    • Provide concise analysis
    • Suggest process improvements
    • Assist with the year-end audit
    • Ad-hoc projects
    • Other functions, duties or tasks as assigned
  • BS Degree in Accounting
  • Experience with Epicor Accounting Systems a plus
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to participate as a team member and perform job duties independently
  • Practice efficient time management
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Exercise sound judgment in handling confidential information and follow ethical standards
  • Seek efficiencies and improvements for existing processes
  • Communicate effectively and write clearly
