Job Description:

FUNCTION AND SCOPE:
Under the direction of the Director for Finance, incumbent will perform diversified accounting duties, such as compiling, reviewing and analyzing financial data necessary to complete corporate and management reporting throughout the year. Also responsible for completing other various detailed accounting analysis, account reconciliation and analytical reviews along with managing the Research Management and Support (RMS) activity and Central Office budgeting. Responsible for preparing the financial data and charts for the Operating Plan and related campus assessment and allocations.

DUTIES:
Compilation and coordination of the monthly Financial Report to Management.

Responsible for preparation of the financial data and charts for the Operating Plan that is approved by the Board. Process includes launching campus forecasts, gathering dta for central office operating budgets, preparing assessments & campus allocation schedules and SUNY Strategic Support allocations. This includes on any modifications to the revenue projection tool, analysis of projections and campus follow up, running operating plan model and compilation of various schedules and charts in order to update the document. Responsible for preparation of operating plan budget to actual on a quarterly basis.

Responsible for overall proper reporting of the Central Office budget, RMS allocations and Royalty accounts, this includes creating reporting structure of CO Budget report. Reconcile and monitor the results of the RF Funded cash and assessment posting process. Investigate any discrepancies and work to resolve. Responsible for managing the corporate activity for the RF. This includes system coding and accounting for RMS, nonsponsored income and royalty activity. Take corrective action and communicate with campus staff and management as necessary.

Assist with risk tolerance reporting process as departmental needs dictate, working with those campuses in the intolerable range to understand and monitor their campus data.

Perform internal control review of the RMS function, including risk assessment, process flows and corrective action plans.

Assist in development and implementation of system modifications, customized reporting applications, and personal computer applications to support current and future corporate reporting requirement.

Special projects involving financial analysis and reporting under direction of the Director and other finance office managers.

Support the other units of the Finance office as deemed appropriate.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Position requires Bachelor’s degree plus three years of accounting, auditing, or financial analysis experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual needs a very good working knowledge of accounting standards and internal controls is desired. Excellent people skills are essential due to the significant interactions with campus staff. Strong Oracle knowledge and data manipulation skills are required. In addition, knowledge of Windows applications such as Excel is required.
