SALARY RANGE: $47,495-$76,220 Closing Date: April 10, 2013

DESCRIPTION: The Accountant Supervisor II performs supervisory level advanced accounting work in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting or bond and loan accounting. Duties include but are not limited to: Performing advanced level cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting or bond and loan accounting in the preparation of financial records, reports and statements for use by management; reviewing and authorizing detailed costs, systems changes, federal fund distributions, or bond and loan records for inclusion in the general accounting system; meeting with agency management personnel and program managers to discuss and resolve advanced level accounting problems and issues; documenting and defending decisions made in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting or bond and loan accounting; and interpreting and applying funding source laws and regulations to specific agency fiscal matters. Employees in this classification supervise Accountant, Advanced positions. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from an Accountant Manager II or other designated administrator. The current vacancies (2) exist at the Maryland Transportation Authority in Baltimore, Maryland (Baltimore County). The eligible list produced from this recruitment may be utilized for future similar Accountant Supervisor II positions.


EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credits in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in auditing.

EXPERIENCE: Five years (5) of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles to include three (3) years performing advanced duties in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting or bond and loan accounting.


1. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirements.

2. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required general experience.

3. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of accounting general experience.
