Job Description The primary purpose of the Accountant is to be responsible for proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This individual is responsible for all aspects of operations finance and accounting including spending budgets/forecasts, capital appropriation activity, inventory, footprint and other analysis. They will provide leadership to improve local financial results in the area of Controllable, Operating Expense and Working Capital and support to Financial Advisors in the forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis processes. The Accountant will prepare and maintain various financial statements and reports as well as assist in the preparation of the monthly-consolidated financial statements.
  • Preparation of compiled, reviewed and audited financial statement engagements, with attention to details
  • Research and application of accounting principles
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting principles that could impact Mammograms In Action
  • Assist others with analytical projects, financial reports, forecasting, and budgets
  • Review work from staff including work papers and financial statements
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Analysis/improvement of business processes
  • Special/ad hoc projects as needed
  • Drive Controllable Spending Budget and Forecast process
  • Complete forecast and budget submissions to headquarters
  • Continuously strive for improvement and suggest ways for cost reduction
  • Assist in the continuous improvement, development, modification and implementation of financial systems as necessary
  • Assisting CPA with all tax obligations and audit procedures
  • Collect and analyze the financial data to provide the management team with reports for effective decision-making (e.g. productivity analysis)
  • Work with financial advisor regarding investment opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • 3-5 years Accounting and Audit experience
  • Professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate data
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent technical and research skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines within budget
  • 1-3 years experience as an accountant - "Big 4" experience is highly preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and resolve challenges independently through good judgment, decisiveness and ability to provide guidance to others
  • Effective project management skills
  • A desire to continuously learn and apply knowledge and experience
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed during peak business periods
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Results oriented with focus on achieving overall business objectives
  • Previous internal audit experience preferred
  • Must have valid California drivers license, reliable personal vehicle and auto insurance coverage.
  • Travel throughout the month of October and any other major event season
  • Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend work
