As an Accountant for Bright Horizons you will play a key role by helping our child care centers and schools with keeping track of their budgets. You will be responsible for analyzing center operating results, providing accounting guidance to directors, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. What you will be doing:
Perform month-end accounting for centers/schools including: reviewing and analyzing operating results and explaining fluctuations, expense accruals, client billing and accounts receivables.
• Communicate regularly via phone, fax, e-mail and in person with directors/principals and regional managers to provide accounting expertise and to answer questions and explain accounting practices.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations on a company-wide and/or departmental level; report and analyze variances.
• Complete bank reconciliations for company-wide accounts and individual center/school accounts.
• Review operating results with senior management; perform accounting for new centers/schools under development and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
What we hope you will bring to this role:
Accounting or Finance Degree is required
Between 1 to 3 years of General Ledger experience is a must
• Proficiency in Excel (preferably you’re a whiz!)
• Fantastic organization and communication skills; You’ll be working with internal customers who don’t have a finance background, so the ability to meet people where they are is critical.
• Detail oriented and ability to prioritize (particularly at month end – things get hectic!)
