Responsible for general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of GL accounts, review of budget/forecast to actual variances, and other accounting functions. This position requires solid understanding of the full accounting cycle and concepts, ability to analyze information, and knowledge of accounting systems.
The Accountant will focus on financial reporting, month end closing tasks for several areas such as cooling services, growing cost, harvest cost and others. The accountant will also interact and provide support to business units, analysts and other internal customers and external vendors.
Responsible for timely and accurate month-end accounting close associated tasks.
Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, reviews reserves and accruals, and other general ledger accounting functions.
Reviews General Ledger account balances for compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls.
Prepares account reconciliations for assigned accounts, understands the nature of the balances, follows up on open items, and fixes any discrepancies.
Works with internal customers to ensure payment of invoices on a timely manner.
Identifies and communicates accounting issues and problems.
Assists with opportunities to streamline and improve accounting transactions and works with the business to provide accounting support to meet customer needs.
Assist with projects and initiatives to develop and enhance transactional process and reporting tools.
Ensures timely, accurate, quality preparation of the Company’s monthly financial statements.
Reconciles inter-company accounts and other transactions which impact the consolidated financial statements.
Provides financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the business.
Reviews changes in the business and the accounting transactions for improved reporting and accuracy of financials.
Prepares Financial Statement files and variance files.
Prepares F-schedules as required by corporate schedule.
Prepares grower statements in a monthly basis.
Prepares, analyses, and responds to routine questions from internal customers.
Assists with information requests for budgets, historical information, and other business and financial needs.
Works with analyst groups to explain variances from forecasts and assist with understanding the month-end results.
Assists with system development and other related projects and initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of 5 years General Accounting experience with a solid understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word is a must.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Experience with international corporations desired.
Cost accounting experience is desired.
Experience providing variance explanation is desired.
Demonstrated high attention to detail.
Demonstrated time management skills. Ability to multi task and prioritize.
