Corporate Accounting seeks to hire a motivated, dedicated individual to join its Account Reconciliation Management group. The individual must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field with a minimum of two years of finance/accounting work experience. Proficiency in personal computer concepts and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of management and departments within the Company and outside agencies. Good mathematical skills are preferred.
Strong presentation skills, familiarity with various mainframe systems (i.e. general ledger) and strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting concepts are each preferred.
Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory as needed.
Responsibilities: Selected candidate will prepare various accounting or financial related data, analyses, schedules or reports of the Company's accounts. Assists the accounting supervisor in the supervision, control and follow-up of other department activities and in his/her absence may supervise union personnel and assists other department personnel as required. Under the direction of the accounting supervisor, reviews work of the group for accuracy and compliance with Company procedures and identifies any problems affecting internal control where applicable. Independently performs research and analyses. Selected candidates will also assist in operation and control of various department systems/software, including updating, training, maintenance or modifications where applicable. Learns new systems and technology as required. Selected candidate will instruct, guide and inform new employees as to the requirements of their assigned jobs. Prepares and/or assists in preparation of various information (data or written) for books, budgets, rate cases, audits and other studies as directed. In addition will research and prepare, and/or assist in such opinions and procedures relative to department responsibilities. Reviews relative accounting, tax, or regulatory laws, decisions and opinions to keep informed of changes as they apply to position or area of responsibility. Performs other related assignments as required.
