This position is located in the Office of Housing, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Finance and Budget, Office of the Housing-Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Comptroller, Office of Financial Services, Multifamily Financial Operations Division, Multifamily Notes Servicing Branch. The Multifamily Financial Operations Division provides support for FHA's multifamily mortgage insurance program which insures loans on large structures ranging from apartment buildings to hospitals. The Multifamily Notes Servicing Branch is responsible for the servicing of approximately 3,000 HUD-held notes with an unpaid principal balance of over $3 billion. The Branch ensures that billings are sent to the mortgagor on a monthly basis and that any necessary adjustments are completed in a timely manner. In addition, the Branch processes foreclosures, new assignments, investments of reserves for replacements, and payoffs. The Branch also addresses inquiries and other note-related issues.

As an Accountant you will:
Analyze and reconcile a variety of accounts and transactions; adjusting differences between the general ledger and subsidiary.
Formulate a variety of routine fnanacial reports and implementing fiscal year-end closing procedures for specific funds.
Develop procedures to be used in the design or modification of automated accouting systems as well as preparing procedural instructions for the development or implementation of automated accounting systems.
Provide advice to management of organizations serviced.
Assist management in applying financial data and recommending alternatives to resolve difficult problems.
Reconcile cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other general ledger accounts.
Review, analyze, and validate domestic and foreign business industry financial and statistical data.
