Support the General Accounting Manager in the SG&A, Cost of Revenue and General Accounting month end close and financial reporting processes in Discovery Latin America’s Miami office while ensuring compliance with audit, tax, SEC, and SOX guidelines. This position will work with and take guidance from corporate accounting teams, in particular the SG&A / Cost of Revenue team, to address various accounting issues. This position involves exposure to local accounting GAAPs in the regional offices (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia), where a fluent and professional communication with external accountants is expected.
Main responsibilities include but not limited to preparation and recording of journal entries, semi-complex calculations for accruals and reserves, assistance during for month end closings, including for the regional offices, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and management reports.

Responsibilities:
Make semi-complex calculations related to accruals, reserves, amortizations and prepayments.
Review the monthly reporting package from the local offices in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and prepare journal entries to record their monthly activity. Fully understand their balance sheet and P&L to detect errors.
Communicate with the external accountants in each country to follow up on accounting and reporting inquiries. Have a general understanding of each local GAAP.
Understand, analyze and prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations. Follow up and resolve outstanding items.
Work with multiple currencies and understand the FX implications.
Assist in the analysis of P&L fluctuations vs forecast, be able to research data in the accounting records.
Assist with the banking requirements and approvals for Discovery’s Latin American regional offices.
Assist with the transfer pricing and intercompany billing calculations and process.
Prepare monthly reports to Corporate and DLA customers.
Liaison between Corporate Accounts Payable and DLA different departments to resolve inquiries from the payment cycle process.
Assist in the preparation of accounting memoranda
Understand and implement Corporate Policies.
Assist with the external and internal audits.
Support the General Accounting Manager in any other accounting tasks or ad hoc projects.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the similar relevant accounting area. Experience in Latin America Accounting a plus.
Bachelor degree in Accounting. CPA a plus
English and Spanish a must. Portuguese a plus.
Demonstrate understanding of financial statements and relationship with accounting transactions.
Strong Excel skills and knowledge of accounting software, SAP a plus.
