The Accountant reviews and provides advanced accounting support for all assigned accounts and/or cost centers.

  • Accurately and timely record expenses, accruals, and other account activity incurred by certain accounts and/or cost centers
  • Manage overall monthly financial close process for assigned accounts and/or cost centers which includes preparing for posting journal entries by supervisor as needed
  • Analyze and prepare monthly financial reports for accounts and/or cost centers, including trend, actual vs. budget, and actual vs. forecast analysis
  • Provide written and oral explanations of material variances to prior year, forecast, and budget
  • Research and respond to inquiries for accounting information from department managers or field personnel
  • Disseminate financial information to senior management
  • Reconcile and prepare explanations for assigned balance sheet accounts of greater complexity
  • Investigate unusual transactions, fluctuations, and determine appropriate accounting treatment
  • Research and develop accounting policies and procedures
  • Provide accounting guidance to other departments to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
  • Provide guidance and project leadership support for Associate Accountant position
  • Identify internal control risks and document Sarbanes-Oxley testing as needed
  • All other duties as needed or required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years work experience in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • PeopleSoft and Hyperion experience or equivalent experience preferred
  • Prior experience with MS Office applications (Excel and Word)
