The focus of this role will be to provide finance support for GE’s retirement plans as part of the newly formed US Pension Accounting Center of Excellence. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of technical accounting for affiliate pension plans in addition to regulatory reporting for both pension and 401(k) plans. The role acts as the liaison to other GE Businesses in delivering high quality shared services, and ensuring compliance with retirement plan regulations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide accounting support for GE’s pension plans, including preparation of journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and quarterly and yearly reporting
  • Facilitate audits of GE’s retirement plans by providing information and testwork support to our independent public accounting firm
  • Prepare financial statements and workpapers for each of the retirement plans
  • Support additional regulatory reporting requirements as needed, such as preparing IRS Form 5500.
  • Develop process improvements that will streamline tasks and increase capacity

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in accounting, finance or business administration
  • Minimum 3 year work experience in accounting or finance position
    Eligibility Requirements:

  • MUST be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • MUST submit application for employment through COS (internal candidates) or (external candidates) to be considered for this position.
  • MUST be at least 18 years of age.
  • MUST be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification and background check.
  • MUST be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • MUST be willing to work out of the Schenectady, NY office.
