The Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including: accounts receivable, account reconciliation, period end closing activities, financial reporting, special projects, and preparation of audit and tax support schedules. This individual must have the ability to act as a resource for team members.
Prepares and records assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense entries to the general ledger system.
Assumes responsibility for accounts receivable activities, including creating invoice billing to clients, ensuring timely payments and answering questions from clients on invoices.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
Assumes responsibility for journal entries into the general ledger – this includes: transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
Summarizes financial status by collecting information, performing account analysis, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements or reports.
Performs monthly bank reconciliations.
Assists with the design and implementation of back office systems to ensure compliance with all regulations
Assumes responsibility for assigned special accounting projects, including preparation of audit and tax support schedules.
Assumes or assists with budget activities.
Ensures that department controls and documentation are consistently maintained and adhered to.
Ensures continued compliance with Organization’s SOX policy.
Leads efforts to improve processes and procedures that accurately capture, track and report financial transactions.
Ensures adherence to and communication of accounting policies and procedures.
Education: (Education qualifications must be from a school whose accreditation is recognized by Marshfield Clinic Information Services)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required.
Certified Public Accountant or current pursuit of certification is preferred.
4+ years’ experience as an Accountant is required.
Accounting reconciliation experience is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft suite is required.
Experience working with Dynamics GP software is highly preferred.
SOX compliance experience is highly preferred.
