NORC at the University of Chicago is currently seeking an accountant to work with other members of the Accounting Team, to reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts monthly and to prepare journal entries for various general ledger accounts.
Responsibilities
•Perform general account reconciliations and analysis.
•Perform general ledger journal entries
•Perform bank reconciliations
•Work with auditors during annual audit
•Work on special requests/projects as necessary
•Act as backup for monthly invoice distribution
•Monitor unclaimed property & prepare unclaimed property reports to state agencies
Requirements
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, plus minimum two (2) years of general accounting work experience. CPA a plus.
•Experience using an automated accounting system as well as proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word is required.
•Strong attention to detail
•Strong problem solving skills and judgment
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Strong skills in organization and time management and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
•Strong work ethic
•Understanding of general accounting principles and processes;
•Strong computer skills; ability to automate work processes; ability to create spreadsheets
•Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure
•Ability to work accurately and timely with high volumes of data
•Ability to work under moderate supervision using established guidelines and procedures
•Computer Experience with one or more of the following: Deltek (Costpoint, Impromptu); Access (JP Morgan Chase software); Quickbooks.
