Essential Job Duties
The purpose of this position is to assist the Lab Operations Manager and the Assistant Director with the daily Business / Financial operation of the Nonwovens Institute ( NWI ) facilities and labs, including the Partners Lab, Staples Lab, Imaging / Filtration Lab, Fiber Science / Coating Lab, Analytical Lab, Reicofil Meltblowing Lab and the NWI Labs Working Capital Account.
This individual will be responsible for the Cost Accounting functions of developing Lab facility use rates, billings, streamlining a more efficient lab usage system that is required to track expenditures, revenue, billings of all 7 NWI lab accounts. They will be responsible for accurate tracking, billing and cost accounting for approximately 2 million dollars in annual operating expenses and approximately $5 million dollars in active Testing Service Agreements. This individual will assist with tracking for core research projects and assisting in tracking non-core research projects that are funded by individual industry members and can be proprietary in nature.
This position will be responsible in assisting the lab operation manager in creating, negotiating and implementing Testing and Service Agreement contracts and working closely with Sponsored Programs, University General Counsel and Industry Legal Counsel. This individual will serve as a liaison between industry clients and NWI .
This type of work requires extensive knowledge of OMB Federal Circular A-21, A-110, State Trust Fund guidelines, Cost Accounting Standards and Cost and Fund Accounting Principles. NWI labs bill Federal sponsored projects and thus there are strict costing guidelines that the labs are held to for tracking expenditures and revenues in the event that there is an audit.
Follow-up on NWI Labs Accounts Receivables, Initiate Purchase Orders, enter vouchers, P-card reconciliation, perform Capital Asset Management System ( CAMS ) inventory and serve as a backup to the NWI Lab Operations Manager and Assistant Director as needed.
Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associates degree in Accounting, or Associates degree in Business or related discipline and 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of university business practices and procedures.
Extensive professional experience in higher education administration.
Strong interpersonal and customer services skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and private industry.
