Principal duties will include the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, participation in the preparation of the annual forecast, monitoring of departmental variances and preparation of regulatory filings and other monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Position requirements include a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of 27 hours in accounting, 3-5 years of accounting experience, the ability to work effectively with operational and financial personnel, demonstrated analytical skills and a proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Excel and Word. Prior experience with PeopleSoft and/or PowerPlant financial systems is a plus. Telecom accounting experience is a plus. The successful candidate will also possess solid analytical skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills and be a highly motivated self-starter. The ability to coordinate numerous tasks simultaneously and to work closely in a team environment of experienced professionals to meet tight accounting and reporting deadlines is a must.
The successful candidate will be slotted as an Accountant or Senior Accountant based on experience and demonstrated ability. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for the level as indicated below:
Accountant: Four year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of 27 hours in accounting and at least three years of related experience preferably in a regulatory environment.
Senior Accountant: Four year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of 27 hours in accounting and at least five years of related experience preferably in a regulatory environment.
