Sensiba San Filippo is actively seeking an experienced Accountant for our growing Business Services Department (BSD) to assist clients by compiling client information, financial statements and assisting with closing books on a monthly basis, analyzing both the balance sheet and income statements, recording prepaid and accrued expenses, reconciling bank and other balance sheet accounts and preparing sales and property tax returns, including 1099s.


Bachelor Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance

Two years of public accounting experience with a basic understanding of GAAP, balance sheets, journal entries, and accrual based financial statements, (ie., prepaids, accruals)

Extensive experience with QuickBooks (American Contractor experience a plus)

Extensive experience with bank reconciliations, cash, prepaid, fixed assets, equity, inter-company transactions

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Self-starter, efficient, sound analytical skills, team player, and able to work independently

Essential Functions:
Understanding of the balance sheet and how to reconcile all accounts.

Ability to analyze income statements to determine if accruals or prepaid expenses need to be recorded.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors, and other contacts

Ability to keep track of client assets.

Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and managers.

Assist accountants on tax return preparation.

Generate 1099's for clients.

Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by management

Ability to apply new concepts quickly, perform several tasks concurrently

Ability to operate a calculator, computer, and other standard office equipment.

Knowledge of computerized accounting, but must be able to do a manual set of books.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements of preparing sales and property tax returns

Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential.

Must be detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal and client service skills.

Must be willing to travel up to 50% to client sites within the SF Bay Area
