The Financial Services Office in the James E. Rogers College of Law is seeking a motivated, flexible, and disciplined Accountant who will perform a wide range of detailed, complex accounting and financial functions on an all funds basis. This full-time classified staff position will ensure daily operations are carried out in accordance with established College and University policies and objectives. Daily duties include responsibility for reimbursements and purchasing, preparing reports, budgeting, reconciling accounts and proactively resolving issues, and effectively and tactfully communicating financial information with College employees and students at all levels. HR functions include hiring, preparing HR documents, and position budgeting. The successful candidate will play an integral part of the Financial Services team. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance for the College. Duties and Responsibilities
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
- Prepares standard accounting reports and ad hoc statements, such as detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts and projections reflecting interrelationships of accounting data; prepares or assists in preparation of special accounting studies. *Prepares timely and accurate reimbursements for employees and contractors, and purchase orders to vendors. *Prepares HR documents including recruitment and hiring, payroll, position funding changes, terminations, payment requests, salary expense transfers, supplemental compensation, vacation/sick adjustments, and position budgeting. *Monitors and reconciles PCard transactions for the College *Utilizes computerized financial and HR systems to reconcile accounts, gather and query information, and create reports. Investigates and corrects problems. *Utilizes professional knowledge and University resources to decide on the proper handling of financial transactions; approves transactions within designated limits. Seeks out advice of senior staff when additional information or instruction is required. *Proactively provides solutions to problems and recommends improvements to accounting system, processes, methods or procedures to management, utilizing knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and funding sources. *Advises and counsels on complex accounting matters to department and/or university staff. Effectively and timely communicates with College leadership, faculty, and staff. *Assists in the development of College policies and procedures; update and maintain as necessary. Assist the Assistant Dean in assessing and rectifying financial or audit risks/exposures of the College. *Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and University and College regulations. *Provides training to College users as required; assists in the training of junior staff. *Performs monthly reconciliations of accounts; reviews and interprets budget-to-actual reports and provides guidance on revenue and expenditure forecasts. *Helps create and maintain an office culture of responsiveness, service, organization, communication, teamwork, and professional development. *Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting course work AND one year of professional accounting experience; OR, Five years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and course work, which includes at least one year of professional accounting, in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

- Ability to learn and work independently and as part of a team. *Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. *Knowledge and experience with University HR (PeopleSoft) and financial (Kuali) systems like UAccess Employee, UAccess Financials, Budget System, Analytics, Raisers and Financial Edge. *Knowledge of University and UA Foundation policies and procedures. *Friendly and easy to work with demeanor.
