The Catalys™ System developed by OptiMedica is designed to bring precision to the critical steps in cataract surgery. We are looking for an Accounting Assistant (Req #116) to join our fast growing company. The person in this role will focus on Accounts Payable, but will also perform a variety of general accounting support tasks. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this person provides information for managers, staff and employees in areas of reporting, accounts payable & receivable, employee expenses and record keeping.

Job Functions
  • Utilizes computerized accounting software programs (Great Plains, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable)
  • Verifies the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records
  • Compile data and prepare a variety of reports
  • Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers
  • Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Investigate questionable data
  • Prepare daily deposits of sales receipts
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Prepare authorized refund vouchers
  • Researches cash receipts, coding and posting of receipts
  • Prepares daily bank deposit
  • Researches and applies unallocated cash
  • Oversees client trust accounts, accounts receivable write-offs and payment reversals
  • Organizes and maintains up to date financial records
  • Provides monthly financial and management reports
  • Assists in financial management and analysis, as requested
  • Organizes and maintains retention files for required period of time
  • 1-3 years hands-on Accounting experience
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to use 10-key calculator for a variety of accounting functions
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience. Undergrad degree in business preferred.
