POSITION: Accounting Assistant DEPARTMENT: Business Office Shift: M-F; 37.5 hours/week; Full-time with benefits; assignment will end 12/20/13. Responsibilities: Formulates and administers approved accounting procedures to assure financial and operating reports are accurate and reliable. Reconcile several benefit billings and prepare check request for payment processing. Credit card statement review, reconciling and posting to the financials. Prepares monthly operating budget reports for all departments from export of expenses. Maintain faculty travel worksheet. Prepare journal entries for gas allocation. Scan documentation into the Document Management System. Back up support for the Administrative Assistant, including but not limited to the following: -Familiar with areas of responsibility at the front desk (credit card machine, student insurance, student account activity, etc) -Enter and balance accounts receivable and student organization receivables. -Prepares daily bank deposit. -Regulate petty cash drawer. -Distribute student payroll, reimbursement and financial aid checks. -Assist students, faculty, staff, and vendors inquiries through walk-ins or phone. -Accept payments for tuition, rent, transcripts, copy accounts, laundry tokens, etc. Post to student accounts and provide receipts. Back up support for the Accounts Payable Specialist Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required; A.A./A.S. preferred. At least 1-3 years of experience in related field or in a related area; familiar with cashiering. Good customer service and accounting skills. A high level of organization, flexibility and multi-tasking, judgment and interpersonal skills are required. Excellent follow-through is required. Ability to work as a positive team player. Should possess strong written & verbal communication skills as well as strong customer service skills. Computer skills must include proficiency in: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
