Transwestern, a national full service commercial real estate company, seeks an administrative accounting professional to work in its Bethesda, MD office The Accounting Assistant will perform accounts payable data entry accurately and timely invoices for payment. It is also necessary to maintain a good working relationship with vendors and operational team members to secure relevant information to be used for financial reporting purposes and information required by national, state and local laws. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for making timely bank deposits and minimal posting of deposits into accounts receivable. It is also the responsibility of the Accounting Assistant not only to exhibit legendary customer service when communicating with owners and vendors but also to focus on productivity and results.
Essential Job Functions:
Enter approved invoices from property manager into Clients accounting system on a weekly basis.
Respond and resolve accounts payable inquiries from vendors and property management.
Set up recurring invoices as needed for monthly invoice reimbursement (TAGS shuttle, Management Office Rent).
Submit request for new vendors with required W9 and invoice to accounting using Vendor Onboarding.
Processes special handling request for invoices.
Submit Move-In and Move-Out forms to Lease Assistant for lease changes and amendments provide from property management.
Reviews and calculates late fees and posts after securing approval from Property Management.
Review monthly rent statements for accuracy.
Run reports and support budget process as requested.
Additional duties as assigned by Project Accountant or Accounting Manager.
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferably an Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance (obtained or in process).
Preferably 1-2 years of accounts receivable and accounts payable process.
Accounts receivable collection by phone and in writing.
Proficient in recent Windows-based real estate accounting software package, experience preferably MRI for Windows. Other software such as Timberline and Yardi will also be helpful.
Must have intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel proficiencies.
Ability to keep information strictly confidential.
Strong desire to succeed in an entrepreneurial environmental.
Must be able to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and a demanding, time-sensitive work load.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Uses a computer several hours each day.
Communicates by telephone, fax, e-mail, video conferencing, satellite broadcasting and in-person.
