The Accounts Receivable Clerk processes revenues by verifying and posting receipts and resolving discrepancies. The Accounting Clerk will post daily receipts to accounts in an accurate and timely manner, make daily deposits, reconcile monthly and quarterly reports. Other duties include coordinating collection and reporting activities according to departmental policies and procedures. The Accounting Clerk communicates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve payment discrepancies. The Accounting Clerk will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by the Chair and the Business Officer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
An Account Clerk must demonstrate initiative and have good judgment, attention to detail and organizational skills. An Accounting Clerk must have an ability to work in a professional office environment with a willingness to work individually or as a part of a team. An Accounting Clerk must also understand that their work will involve confidential information that may affect other Industrial Commission departments and North Carolina citizens. To be a successful Accounting Clerk, the employee must be able to think critically, logically and analytically. The candidate must be able to handle stress, solve problems and manage conflict. It is important that an Accounting Clerk have interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must be able to prioritize their work, have good computer skills and have excellent mathematical skills. The Accounting Clerk should have knowledge of general accounting principles. The Accounts Receivable Clerk must have alphanumeric data entry skills. The Accounting Clerk must be willing to learn new skills and work in an organization with fluid responsibilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

An A.A.S. degree in Accounting, knowledge of general accounting principles, alphanumeric data entry; Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills; Excellent communication and multitasking skills; Excellent grammar skills and an understanding of proper business written and verbal communication; and Excellent prioritization, planning and organizational abilities.
