Manages an accounting staff while assisting with training and monitoring performance issues. Promotes a team environment and provides work direction by coordinating staff meetings and work calendar.
Responsible for being knowledgeable of team's clients management agreements, ensuring copy of the current management agreement is uploaded into iTrack, and working with REM teams to ensure requirements and terms of the management agreement are being followed.
Reviews and verifies financial statement packages prior to submittal to Client or Real Estate Manager. Ensures the accuracy of all reporting.
Reviews and ensures the accuracy of all reports, e.g., accounting schedules, bank reconciliation, BAIFs etc. generated by the team.
Ensures that cash/accrual basis books are properly maintained.
Reviews and approves all journal entries for accuracy and completeness.
Reviews management fee calculations and makes sure they are in accordance with the current management agreement. Ensures related invoices are paid in a timely manner.
Reviews and approves Corporate A/R and CBRE Tech Services A/R reconciliations and ensures open issues are resolved.
Ensures all debt, real estate tax, sales tax and owner distribution payments are made in a timely manner and internal databases are updated and maintained.
Identifies training needs of the team and assists in coordinating the development of training materials and schedules.
Actively participates in the instruction of accounting training classes.
Reviews monthly point worksheets and may enter allocations into PeopleSoft.
Researches and responds to accounting inquiries.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues that arise.
Participates in external audits as requested.
Completes annual staff performance reviews, semi-annual reviews and establishes performance goals with their team.
Continuously evaluates and supports internal controls.
Reviews budgets and annual year-end recovery calculations and ensures they are completed in a timely manner.
Plans staffing assignments to create balanced workloads and ensures coverage at all times.
Effectively delegates work to staff and accepts responsibility for timely and accurate completion of that work.
