THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR STATE GOVERNMENT AND RIF (REDUCTION IN FORCE) EMPLOYEES ONLY.
This position oversees accounting functions of the facility, by managing the entire Procurement Process, including Operational and Welfare Procurements. Ensures accurate entries are made into the NC Accounting System, and E-Procurement System for procurement of goods/services. Responsible for Facility Budget oversight to ensure accountability of funds. Responsible for Trust Fund operations. Responsible for Fixed Asset Control to ensure accountability of all equipment assigned to facility. Responsible for oversight of Canteen operations to ensure compliance with policy, reviews Canteen Reports and submits to Welfare Accounting by stated deadlines. This position also acts as the assistant to the Administrative Services Manager and acts in that position in her absence.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Substantial knowledge and application of Departmental Fiscal Policy and Procedures, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint computer programs. Ability to utilize the NC Accounting System (NCAS) and E-Procurement System. Ability to interact both orally in writing with vendors, staff, inmates, and the general public on a professional level. Ability to research and analyze data. Ability to make sound independent decisions. Ability to coordinate with others. Must possess excellent technical/accounting skills and knowledge. Requires working knowledge of various formats used in written correspondence, good grammar, and composition skills. Reports directly to the Administrative Services Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
