The A/R Representative submits accurate claims to government and non-government carriers and various third party payors according to applicable rules, regulations, and existing contracts. The incumbent ensures the appropriate coding structure to maximize reimbursement. Acts as a resource person and liaison between patient, third party payers and agency regarding questions and concerns relating to billing. The incumbent performs a variety of collection, patient account follow-up and patient account maintenance functions in order to maximize cash flow and acts as a resource person and liaison to patients regarding questions related to billing. The AR Representative maintains Consolidated DSO at 45 days.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent in education and experience is preferred.
Previous seasoned patient accounting or claims processing experience is required. Previous billing and/or collection experience preferably in a physician’s office, hospital, or billing company is required. Computer experience from a user’s perspective is required.
Must be familiar with HCPC, Rev Codes and ICD9 coding. Basic bookkeeping principles, general business procedures, knowledge of collection and billing rules and regulations are required. Medical terminology is desired. Knowledge of HMO, PPO, capitated, Medicare and Medi-Cal billing guidelines and regulations, including but not limited to filing limits on submissions and appeals, is required. Understanding of Hospice, Home Health and DME regulations is strongly desired. Knowledge of various billing computer systems, on-line eligibility and claims review and Medicare DDE is strongly desired.
Typing at 40 wpm, the ability to use 10 key adding machine by touch, CRT and various office machines are also required. The incumbent must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, well organized and detail oriented. Incumbent must also be analytical, a self-motivator, and be able to multitask. Must be able to multi task.
