Position Description:
Full-time, temporary through August 2014. The Achievement Coach will work intensively with students who are academically and culturally underprepared for college-level coursework and a higher education environment. The coach will assist with academic skill-building, connect students to college and community resources, and assist students to achieve success and belongingness within the JCC culture. The Achievement Coach will also develop tools for JCC use and transition the function of these tools into the JCC organizational approach to advising. Development of student contract outlining expectations of student/coach relationship Establish student cohort within established guidelines Meet individually and in small groups with designated students Maintain regular contact with students and act as resource to assist with individual needs leading to student success. Areas of concern may include but are not limited to: educational and career planning, personal learning styles, understanding financial aid, time management, and establishing a balance between school, family, and work. Develop workshop, online, and print materials to integrate into general advising practice Establish protocols for tracking success data and evaluation of achievement coach model Track quantitative as well as qualitative data regarding student success Communicate data and best practices from model with SDEV colleagues as it pertains to advising and other practices. Invite speakers and workshop facilitators to campus to facilitate professional development opportunities about achievement coach exemplary practices and benefits
Other Duties: Provide leadership to develop educational planning tools through the use of DegreeWorks Provide leadership and assistance to SDEV colleagues in developing and implementing achievement coaching techniques to integrate into JCC advisement and other practices. Design and implement regular email and electronic announcements to students to communicate and inform them of important college dates and functions.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree. Two years of student services experience in college setting or commensurate experience. Oral and written communication skills necessary to relate well to students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Commitment to providing excellent customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Competence with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Preferred: Preference given to a master's degree in counseling, student personnel or related field. Community college experience preferred.

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $31,861 - $35,848, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefit package.
