Assists in performing varied tasks in direct support of the acquisition evaluation engineering staff, including: efficient compilation, manipulation of and analysis of basic engineering and financial data. Assists in the preparation and maintenance acquisition evaluation databases; timely preparation of standard economic reports; creates engineering, geologic, and company acreage positions maps and assists in the analysis of these same maps. Performs production decline curve analysis studies under direction of the engineering staff and develops analysis of asset and/or company.
Assists the engineering staff with the continual review and analysis of production data for the acquisition evaluation and ensures data quality, standardization and completeness with timely completion. Duties often require the analysis, manipulation and clean up of large volumes of data. Assists with the data flow between asset teams, the reserves group, and the acquisition commercial group. Prepares acquisition evaluation datasets; constructs and maintains acquisition evaluation databases; and prepares economic reports to assist the engineering staff with acquisition evaluation and production studies. Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and final economic modeling and maintains and recommends database standards. Assists in the documentation of standards and preparation of training documents. Assist engineering staff in the preparation of maps using Petra and Arcview.
Must be proficient at finding, extracting, manipulating and compiling data from various state, federal and or technical data sources including websites, periodicals or technical manuals.
Must continually work to improve skill sets in the use of Aries reserves software and analytical techniques including advanced use of Excel, Access and mapping programs.
Given the high speed nature and volume and of the work load, must be able to quickly decide how to rearrange the priorities of the given tasks; set an efficient work flow and know when to seek assistance. Preparation of acquisition evaluations and studies are often under tight deadlines; failure to meet deadlines may have profound financial and or decision making implications.
Must continually make decisions on when data quality, production modeling and analysis is sufficient and or meets standards to proceed with the preparation of any acquisition evaluation study. Accuracy is a must. The exercise of good judgment is a key ability that all acquisition workers must have; failure to do so may have a profound effect on business decision making and the financial impact of the corporation.
Minimum 3 years of oil and gas related experience
Demonstrated proficiency in Aries or other similar reserves and economics software
High level proficiency using MS Excel and MS Access as analytical tools
Database management skills
Ability to comfortably work in a fast paced rapidly changing work environment
Willingness to continuously learn and keep up with changes in technology and software
An engineering, geology, financial, or related technical degree preferred
GIS mapping experience, particularly using mapping software such Petra and ArcMap
Other industry software experience to include IHS Energy products like PowerTools
and Enerdeq, all Microsoft Analytical and reporting tools
