Position Summary

:

Under close supervision, the

Actuarial Analyst

applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to problems in life, health, social, casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specializes in one type of insurance (Life/Health or Property/Casualty).

Determines mortality, accident, sickness, disability, and retirement rates.

Constructs probability tables regarding fire, natural disasters, and unemployment, based on analysis of statistical data and other pertinent information.

Designs or reviews insurance and pension plans, and calculates premiums.

Ascertains premium rates required and cash reserves, and liabilities necessary to ensure payment of future benefits.

Determines equitable basis for distributing surplus earnings under participating insurance and annuity contracts in mutual companies.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree

2 or more years related work experience

Work Traits:
Incumbent begins to study toward becoming an Associate, Society of Actuaries designation.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements:

Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
