Acute Care Pharmaceutical Representative

We seek a Regional Account Manager with extensive experience in selling Injectable pharmaceuticals and generic Ophthalmics into hospitals and surgery centers. The Account Manager is responsible for managing a territory of key accounts and will be accountable for the sales productivity and profitability of the territory. The Account Manager must possess a comprehensive understanding of selling to doctors and pharmacists in hospitals and surgery centers, GPO contracting and compliance initiatives, and performing effective sales strategies to increase Akorn product sales while achieving corporate objectives. The Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales plans, maintaining injectable and ophthalmic market and product knowledge, and performing account coverage responsibilities. Must have experience within field sales.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Achieve sales and unit volume forecasts
Manage budgets and expenses for Territory
Report weekly goals and results to Regional Sales Director
Manage key physician and account relationships within their territories
Manage detailed customer records and reporting with in CRM system
Communicate with other team members
Report on activities and changes in marketplace
Represent Akorn ethically and professionally
Preferred Candidate Background and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree required, an MBA or post-graduate work would be a plus. Past experience in a major generic injectable pharmaceutical company or in an ophthalmic company competing in the same markets as Akorn. Strong sales and persuasion skills, business acumen, organizational and analytical skills are required. Must be willing to travel.
