Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and confidential administrative support to the Assistant Director of Medical Claims at the 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Funds
  • Process negotiated settlement claims from the Balance Billing Unit; request payment release for Homecare Unit 5 claims
  • Collect data and prepare departmental reports in Excel and other databases for maintenance of weekly and monthly reports
  • Contact providers for additional information for claims processing; compile spreadsheets to the Provider Relations Department for provider file updates
  • Assist providers and Provider Relations Call Center Representatives with electronic claims submission inquiries
  • Update and approve bi-weekly timesheets in system (ADP eTime)
  • Order office supplies and submit departmental expenses through procurement system (Oracle)
  • Manage calendar, arrange appointments and meetings as directed; record minutes at meetings and transcribe materials
  • Screen, reroute and address phone calls; organize files/records, review and direct mail to appropriate personnel
  • Calculate Fee for Service (FFS) for IRS levies; make copies for the Legal Department
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required, some College or Degree preferred; plus
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as an Administrative Assistant providing support to management in a general office environment required
  • Experience in health insurance or medical claims preferred
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred; knowledge of Access and financial, timekeeping, or claims systems a plus (Oracle, ADP, QNXT)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, detail oriented and flexible
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, members, staff, and other agencies; provide a positive service attitude when dealing with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines, multi-task, make sound judgments, and prioritize work assignments
  • Must be able to work independently and be a team player; able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential situations with integrity, tact, and diplomacy
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
