One year of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work at the executive level in a public or private organization,
Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university,
Any acceptable equivalent combination of experience and training.

NATURE OF WORK An employee in this class is responsible for performing a variety of staff assignments at the administrative level of a county agency which include analyzing administrative or staff operations and procedures, developing and recommending work standards and procedures, conducting research and studies, preparing reports of findings and recommendations, and performing public relations and liaison duties. The employee develops and refines his or her own work routine and is expected to carry assignments through to completion with only unusual, complicated or highly important tasks reviewed by the administrative supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over a small clerical staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation at a level equivalent to that used in writing or adjusting written materials normally consisting of complex sentence structures.
Some knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
Ability to develop sound administrative procedures and to evaluate those administrative practices currently in operation.
Ability to establish effective working relationships across organizational lines with administrative officials, representatives of other governmental units and representatives of public groups.
Ability to carry out staff assignments requiring the organization of material and the analysis of data.
Ability to type accurately at a minimum rate of 50 words per minute on a computer console.
Ability to take dictation.
Ability to respond to emergencies.
