Based on supervisory direction, composes correspondence on own initiative about administrative matters and general office policies for supervisor's approval; prepares materials needed by the supervisor for conferences, correspondence, meetings, etc; reads regulations and directives and takes action or refers those actions that are important to the staff, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other offices, etc., under general directions; advises clerical personnel in other offices on new procedures; requests information needed from other offices for periodic or special conferences, reports, inquiries, etc. Shifts clerical and administrative staff to accommodate workload needs. Uses judgment and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations. Interprets and adapts guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents, and practices, which are not always completely applicable to changing situations.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience performing the above functions. Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Demonstrated oral and written skills.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university is desired.

CLEARANCE: Able to acquire DoD Secret Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Demonstrated Skills required in the use of the Defense Travel System (DTS)
  • Processes Travel request form and advises traveler of available flights hotels, rental vehicles and in making reservations using the Defense Travel System.
  • Provides full assistance to the traveler in planning travel itineraries.
  • Completes Travel Claims are processed within working 5 days of travel completion.
  • Maintains travel records for each traveler.
