Provides administrative support to both the academic and teaching responsibilities of assigned faculty through the coordination/preparation of course materials, seminars and other department events. Arrange travel and hospitalities for conferences and events, and work with outside vendors of scientific/office supplies and equipment. Responsible for purchasing of both laboratory and office supplies and maintaining accurate records. The Administrative Assistant will assist the chair, primary and adjunct faculty, Department Manager, and students within MMI's programs and services. This position will provide secretarial and general office support services for the department, and will assist in ad-hoc projects as needed.
Special Physical Requirements
- High school graduate with 4 years of administrative support or equivalent combination of education/experience -Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills -Self starter and well-organized to oversee and handle multiple tasks within time constraints -General knowledge of recordkeeping and principles of fiscal management -Strong computer skills (word processing, excel, Filemaker Pro) -Ability to multi-task and respond to interruptions while maintaining a positive attitude and demonstrating excellent customer service skills -Ability to work independently as well as attention to detail a must -Due to the cyclical nature of the work, incumbent must be able to adapt to fluctuations in workload.
