The Hampton Roads District is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide a wide range of clerical administrative support for the Area Land Use Section. Processes land use permits, subdivision street acceptance, and chapter 527 studies. Maintains filing system for all plans and permits, answers telephone and provides assistance, provides customer service for both internal and external customers. Responsible for handling all fees tied to plan and permit submissions, keeping track of all permit, bond, and surety extensions and expirations, and tracking accounts receivables for the section.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and competency in current Microsoft Office software, and the ability to learn new software. Ability to communicate both orally and by written correspondence to internal and external customers, ability to perform accounts receivable functions, ability to maintain filing system, possess strong record keeping skills, data entry skills, and general office administration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from high school and/or a combination of educational and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job. Considerable experience in secretarial field. VDOT permit and subdivision software experience preferred.

Special Requirements
DMV records check by the Department is required. Criminal history records check and fingerprint check are required.

A driver's license valid in Virginia.
