The Adminstrative Assistant will provide support to the two Vice Provosts in the Academic Affairs Office by managing all events relating to chair and faculty development; providing coordination and support for faculty nominations for external awards; using strict confidentiality, assist in maintaining administrators' calendars, scheduling appointments, and preparing for meetings; assisting in monitoring the development of new academic programs and maintaining liaison with other administrative units as well as the State Council for Higher Education in Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of PC-based software such as Microsoft Office products to include the demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence, manipulate data, coordinate schedules and produce reports. Knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of standard office procedures. Demonstrated strong data entry skills and the ability to accurately proofread documents. Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills to include the ability to interpret, apply and explain complex policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to maintain electronic and paper filing systems. Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Experience working in a higher education setting.
