The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Military Science Department by constructing and distributing various letters, as well as tracking letters. The Administrative Assistant must be knowledgeable of all key personnel and develop a solid rapport with all administrative personnel and sections on campus. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Direct telephone calls and student traffic to the appropriate staff; make appointments for the Dean and staff; Tracking all incoming mail to include pick-up, open and sort mail; prepare correspondence requiring the Dean’s signature; monitor the postage and Federal Express funds; maintain the Dean’s calendar; coordinate for student transcripts as requested by the Military Science Department Staff; process requests for Email and CAMS access for all staff members; coordinate with the Center for Information Services on all technical issues for the department; coordinate for all university printing services to include doorplates and business cards; coordinate and prepare for all internal social functions (i.e. Commissioning Ceremony Reception, Spring Awards Ceremonies, etc.); maintain and distribute invitations to external personnel for all key functions; and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

A High School Diploma required and at least one to two years of experience working in an office setting. Computer and technical training; experience answering the telephone in a business setting and working with the public; a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office; have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written; have the ability to work effectively with a team and must possess a positive attitude.
