This temporary Administrative Assistant job posting is unique as multiple departments throughout UAF may be hiring from this pool of applicants. The posting is designed to aid departments in filling an unexpected vacancy or an urgent need on a part-time or full-time, temporary basis. Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.

Knowledge of office practices and procedures; excellent writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar for correspondence and reports. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work independently; attention to detail; determine priorities; meet multiple deadlines and have basic fiscal skills. Previous experience working with the public. Ability to operate a multi-line phone system.

Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency with MS products (Excel, MS Word) and various e-mail clients, ability to use computer scheduling programs, websites/Internet Explorer and ability to send and download electronic documents through the Internet.

Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).

High school diploma or equivalent.

Length of time and type of experience required for this position.

6 months to 3 years office/administrative experience or equivalent. Experience working with the public.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.

UAF Banner experience.

Prior university experience.

Job Duties


Provide direct contact with the inquiring public, target clientele, partner agencies, and organizations by phone, office visit, fax, mail and e-mail utilizing appropriate department resources to assist with resolution of questions.

Provide clerical and administrative support for various departments, which may include, filing, copying, faxing, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, log maintenance, data entry, records maintenance, create and organize reports, maintain databases. Compose drafts and edit correspondence, administrative reports, and materials. Process incoming and outgoing inter campus mail, arrange meetings, and assist with special projects as assigned by various staff and faculty. Maintain calendar of events and administrative deadlines, schedule building meeting rooms and conference rooms for special events
