The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Executive Director of Government Relations, the Director of Federal Relations, and the overall Office of Government Relations as needed; frequently interacts with constituents of the university, both internal and external; and provides administrative support for events planned by the Office of Government Relations (for example, visits to campus by government officials, staff appreciation day and commencement).

Minimum Qualifications
Experience providing administrative support to a senior executive in a corporate or higher education office environment. Considerable experience directly supporting complex projects and events. Experience in calendar management, including the coordination of complex executive meetings. Experience synthesizing, editing, organizing and proofreading large documents from multiple sources. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while working on multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Pro, and SharePoint. Must be comfortable driving state cars or vans with visiting dignitaries. Must be comfortable working with minimal supervision and guidance.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or related field. Familiar with university systems; Banner, HokieMart, etc. Familiar with university fiscal policies and procedures. Experience using large online databases such as SharePoint. Recent experience working with federal and state agencies and representatives.
